Welcome to the Walmer Pre-Primary school website. I am privileged to head up this institution because of the quality of the education and care we offer our pupils. Walmer Pre-Primary was established in 1960 and has a proud history. It is a public school on private property. As such it falls under the Department of Education and follows the public school’s Grade R curriculum, school term calendar and regulations.
The key elements to the success of our school are threefold.
The first element is the quality of the staff we are blessed to have in the school. All of our teachers are professional, graduate teachers with many years experience (see teacher profiles). Each teacher is dedicated and choose this profession because they really believe in, and are committed to the development of the young child. We are a very happy school and have a stable and long serving staff complement. The second element that contributes to the popularity of the school is the excellent facilities we have to offer. We have generous sizes classrooms that are equipped with all the elements and educational equipment needed for stimulation. The third vital element in the success of our school is the very positive and co-operative relationship between our families and our school. We have an open-door policy and our parents are involved in many aspects of the daily life of our school. We have a Governing Body who are involved in financial management, upkeep on the buildings and equipment, staffing and planning and future development of the school and an active PTA elected annually at our school’s Annual General Meeting early in March.
Some of the aspects that parents are involved in are, assistance with small group games, outings, gardening, organising social events like our family day, handicraft, catering, fund raising, maintenance, serving teas, flowers for the foyer wherever you feel that you will be able to assist.
